The BYU Laboratory School Records, 1896-1969
BYU Special Collections

This BYU collection includes reports, correspondence, student histories, scrapbooks and memorabilia from the Brigham Young Laboratory School, including both the elementary BYU Training School and secondary Brigham Young High School.

Collection items also involve school administration, school enrollment, school finances, and student life.

Also included are publications of the BY Laboratory School and publications used as part of the curriculum.

According to the collection abstract, the purposes of the BYU Laboratory Schools were to serve as a laboratory for experimentation in new frontiers of elementary and secondary education, and to facilitate the training of student teachers at BYU.

We are posting this information on the BYH website, hoping that BYH alumni and friends will find something on the register that particularly interests them, so you can write a brief historical or feature story to publish here.

Most of the BYH archival collection was processed by James Cloward, Records Processor, under the direction of Hollis Scott, University Archivist. An addendum and reformat of the register was completed in April 2002 by Brian Shull, Student Assistant.

The collection is housed in the L. Tom Perry Special Collections, Harold B. Lee Library, Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.
